“If you’ve ever tried to mend a broken heart by sharing a beer with a stranger or by braving the open road without a destination in mind, you’ll find comfort in the Country rock ‘n’ roll stylings of Milwaukee’s Ladybird. With a knack for solemn storytelling that could command the attention of John Prine peppered with the grit of acts like Drive By Truckers and Lucero, Ladybird quickly established itself as an alternative Country favorite in the Midwest music scene.
Ladybird formed in the fall of 2021 and has since released two EPs, toured the country, and shared the stage with acts like Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, Jess Williamson, Dale Hollow and Teddy and the Rough Riders. Songs like “Console” show the band’s soft side, as frontman Pete McDermott laments on a former relationship and the passing of time, while tracks like “Honky Tonk Mama” have become barn-burning anthems that inspire fans to dance and sing along.
The band’s first full length record, “Amy Come on Home” will be self-released on May 17th. Recorded at Wire & Vice with Ian Olvera and mastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering, the 9 songs on this record fully showcase the bands aforementioned style and range.
There’s plenty of lonesome soul-searching to be found in the stories told by Ladybird, but it’s the contagious camaraderie and compassion that fills the room when the band takes the stage that has established these Midwestern cowboys as not only a local favorite, but a beloved act outside of America’s Dairyland as well.”
